Why from birth?
At birth, a baby's brain has an unusual gift: it can tell the difference between all 800 sounds. This means that at this stage infants can learn any language that they’re exposed to. Gradually babies figure out which sounds they are hearing the most. Specialists are unanimous in their opinion: exposing a child to a foreign language from birth is beneficial for their development. According to a report on early childhood development by the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council of the United States, the capacity to learn a language is optimal from the 34th week of pregnancy until the age of 12 months, during the period when the brain synapses are forming. So, if you want your child to know more than one language, it’s best to start at an early age, before she even starts speaking her first language. It won’t confuse your child, and it could even give her a boost in other forms of cognition.
Remember that during the classes, the important aspect is that the parent (or carer) is available to learn alongside the child and interact.
